Resideo Now Offering Brilliant Plug-In Smart Home

Brilliant, provider of smart home control, smart lighting and home automation systems, recently launched a new plug-in version of its Smart Home Control Panels that has now finished a beta test with a few security dealers like Guardian Systems and LOUD Security. The solution is being sold through a partnership with Resideo Technologies via ADI Global Distribution, a Resideo company.

“The new offering from Brilliant — the low-voltage, plug-in version of its smart home controller — allows security dealers without high-voltage electrical licenses to now bring this combined solution to their customers,” said Quentin Gunther, leader of the Resideo Premier Security Dealer Program. “Since Brilliant integrates with Resideo’s professional security solutions — panels, cameras, touchscreens — it gives the professional security installer an easy way to expand a homeowner’s system by offering enhanced security along with smart home features. It also helps them expand their own businesses by being able to offer a fully-integrated smart home solution that can work with products already in the home or that homeowners purchase after.”

Keith Adams, senior account manager, Guardian Systems, Smyrna, Tenn., said the controller has helped them meet some of their homeowner’s needs as well as their own installation needs. “A lot of them needed a secondary keypad somewhere in the home, or a lot of them wanted to be able to live stream the doorbell camera from the product,” Adams said. “The installation side is seamless now that we’re able to plug it directly into a power outlet versus the low-voltage world of running wiring for the secondary keypad for the alarm system. It’s made installation a lot easier for technicians — it takes a lot less time, and it causes a lot less issues.”

The Smart Home System features touchscreen panels with built-in voice control that can be accessed and controlled through the Brilliant mobile app. And now the panel can be utilized in multi-family living situations where permanent installation is not always an option.

“Now, people who live in apartments who don’t have access to their wiring can have a smart home system,” said Michael Williams, vice president of marketing, Brilliant Smart Home. “We got a lot of feedback from people who live in urban areas — Manhattan, San Francisco, Boston — that their landlord won’t allow them to access their electrical box or install electrical wiring in their homes. Now they can have a smart home system and access their smart bulbs, their music, and their ring doorbell or security cameras.”

Williams also highlighted the ease of installation for dealers and integrators, “And lastly, professional installers and security dealers who aren’t licensed to perform electrical installations. This is a huge opportunity for them now to address every single home that they’re in right now.”

Eric Widner, general manager, LOUD Security Systems, Kennesaw, Ga., echoed the importance of this aspect. “This solution allows a low voltage integration to offer a complete automation solution, whether tied to a security system or not, to our customers without the need for additional licensing,” Widner said. “And since it can integrate to a First Alert security system, it can even replace the cost of additional keypads making it more affordable to the average consumer.”

While Brilliant offers each of these control options, the panel allows users to access all of the smart devices in their home with the use of a phone, app or voice commands. The control panel offers touchscreen menus, voice control, customizable home automation scenes, programmable touch sliders/switches, and an app to control the entire home.

Gunther added, “My teenagers are not standing at the doorway, they’re on their bed or at their desk. It’s a lot easier to communicate with that control panel when it’s closer to the most functional area in the room. And it’s much easier for a technician to deploy than having to wait for an electrician. It requires way less training to get your technicians prepared to physically install this controller.”

Williams concluded, “Before we launched our home control system, it was super cost prohibitive to have a true smart home. All these smart homes required professional installers and they were only accessible to the top 1 percent. I feel like Brilliant and Resideo have really come up with a good one-two-punch. We’ve been able to disrupt the market by launching a smart home control system that feels like it belongs in both high-end luxury homes, but also at lower-end homes, too at a price point that was previously unheard of in the space.”

“We’re proud to work  alongside innovators like Brilliant to  identify powerful new solutions to cater to the needs of the dealer community and consumer alike,” Gunther said. “These partnerships and integrated solutions increase installation efficiencies for dealers and builders, expand their offerings, simplify compatibility for homeowners and provide long-lasting value to all parties.” — by Christopher Crumley, SDM Staff Editor

Eagle Eye Networks Unveils Professional Video Monitoring With Immix

Eagle Eye Networks announced a technology integration enhancement with central station monitoring software provider Immix to securely connect any business location using the Eagle Eye Cloud VMS (video management system) with any central station using Immix. The integration brings the distinct advantages of cloud, including greatly simplified installation, robust end-to-end cybersecurity, centralized management of multiple locations, and AI-filtering to dramatically reduce false-positive activity to the monitoring center or command center professional.

In addition to improving security, the feature-rich integration saves time and money for customers, resellers and monitoring stations, and makes professional monitoring feasible for more businesses. The integration of Immix with Eagle Eye delivers timely and accurate information to central station operators and customers alike, resulting in improved situational awareness, response times and customer satisfaction. Eagle Eye CEO Dean Drako noted that the integration offers built-in false positive alarm reduction through Eagle Eye’s AI-filtering, which readily distinguishes people and vehicles from unimportant activity such as trees blowing in the wind.

“The Eagle Eye system is cloud-based and open, so our built-in AI can also be augmented with third-party AI technology,” Drako said. “Furthermore, Immix also connects with Brivo Access, which means their dashboard can complete the full loop of receiving alarms, viewing video, performing a two-way audio session and providing remote access.”

Tony Byerly, global president, Securitas Technology, said, “Eagle Eye Networks-Immix video monitoring is a solid solution for clients, especially those that have multiple locations. The integration will unlock even more value for our clients and supports our mission to help make your world a safer place.”

Immix CEO Chris Brown said Immix is pleased to continue to expand its partnership with Eagle Eye Networks and offer enhanced solutions that enable the success of mutual customers. “Immix and Eagle Eye share a vision and are strategically aligned to deliver a powerful solution which will allow our customers to grow their footprint for managed video services and empower them to dramatically increase their recurring revenue streams on a global scale,” Brown said.

Milestone Systems to Release Milestone Kite Camera to Cloud

Milestone Systems, a provider of video technology, announced the upcoming release of a new camera-to-cloud deployment option for its Milestone Kite video surveillance as a service (VSaaS) software. Known as Milestone Kite Camera to Cloud, the new option will reportedly offer even greater simplicity and cost-efficiency to customers. As an alternative or expansion to gateway installations, Camera to Cloud builds on Milestone’s focus on flexible and scalable solutions that support evolving needs.

Milestone Kite Camera to Cloud VSaaS works with a series of Axis cameras pre-installed with AI-based Axis Object Analytics. All computing, recording and video storage take place on the cameras, which connect directly to the Milestone Kite cloud. This can reduce bandwidth load and associated costs, as well as installation and maintenance costs.

Milestone Systems Logo

“The combination of simplicity and cost efficiency makes Milestone Kite Camera to Cloud a highly practical choice for organizations with smaller or newly built locations, or simply those where having a gateway onsite would be impractical,” said Jesper Just Jensen, vice president of products at Milestone Systems.

Camera to Cloud is particularly suitable for businesses with multiple locations with a small number of cameras at each site. It is also beneficial for those with limited IT knowledge, bandwidth limitations or situations where installing on-site gateway hardware is not feasible. Companies already using Milestone Kite with gateways can expand to new sites with Camera to Cloud. The new sites will be recognized and managed as part of the same Kite service as the gateway deployments. This enhances the appeal of Milestone Kite as a suitable option for different budget and bandwidth situations, making Camera to Cloud a practical choice for businesses with multiple sites, such as those in the retail, hospitality, and education sectors.

Milestone Kite was introduced in January of this year, providing a simple, secure and scalable cloud video security solution, particularly for small and medium-sized organizations looking for a budget-friendly video management option. The introduction of Camera to Cloud enhances Milestone Kite's commitment to easy cloud video security. With the new Camera to Cloud offering, set to be released in Q1, 2024, there will be more options available.

“The reimagined Raven web tool offers a comprehensive suite of controls to simulate mounting height, rotation, range and image detection to ensure accurate placement and performance of Teledyne FLIR security and ITS hardware in real-world conditions,” said Matt Strautman, global director of business development, Teledyne FLIR. “Furthermore, Raven makes collaboration central to the experience, including the option for one user to share a report with another Raven user to work on the plan in real-time, affording quick and easy collaboration with partners, customers and colleagues, helping reduce revision time while improving accuracy.”

Teledyne FLIR Logo

Using the latest satellite imagery via Google Maps, Raven empowers users to place any number of FLIR cameras, including the latest releases such as the FLIR FC Series AI and the FLIR FH Series ID multispectral fixed cameras, in highly accurate, coordinate-controlled locations, anywhere on Earth.

The new version of Raven is built to help site planners quickly choose the right configuration of cameras to secure a given location, including the option to test various configurations to ensure proper coverage and camera placement. The enhanced software also saves time and money by enabling collaborators to right-size for the available budget all the way through to the site implementation stage. More specifically, the visualization of camera coverage provides peace of mind for intelligent implementation completed faster and with less risk.

Raven makes it easy for site planners to switch between camera models before or after the layout is built and then use color-coded detection zones to quickly differentiate between radar, thermal and visible camera placements. The application also provides an improved distance calculator with the ability to grab and stretch a given camera’s range directly on the map. Additional features include the ability to add site plan notes at the point of camera placement and when generating the final report.

Once the user has created a plan, they can save it to their projects folder and then create a PDF output containing the camera specifics, GPS coordinates for each camera and the satellite plan overview map. Users can also effectively build a quote and then pull it directly from Raven to share with colleagues, clients and partners for streamlined input and approval.
