Stone Security Integrates Suicide Prevention Tech for Denver Preforming Arts Complex

The Denver Performing Arts Complex has implemented a cutting-edge technological system to prevent potential suicides from its rooftop. The system — installed by Stone Security — provides real-time alerts to security staff when someone is detected contemplating a jump by integrating Milestone, Axis fixed and PTZ cameras, AOA analytics, radar and D4100 alarms.

This initiative reflects a commitment to leveraging advanced technology for public safety. The combination of automated alerts and immediate human intervention aims to significantly reduce the risk of suicide attempts, ensuring a safer environment for everyone at the complex. It is the intersection of intelligent deep-learning video analytics, high resolution surveillance technology and the power of open platform to pull it all together and provide real-time alerts to security staff.

The system operates through a combination of technologies, including:

  1. Axis AOA - Cross Line Detection and Loitering Rules: The AOA analytics are configured to notify security when an individual crosses a predefined line on the rooftop or loiters near the edge for an extended period. This setup ensures that any suspicious behavior is immediately flagged.
  2. Radar-Enhanced Human Tracking: PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras, enhanced with radar, are programmed to track human movements exclusively. This precise tracking ensures that the system focuses on potential jumpers without being distracted by other objects or movements.
  3. Axis D4100 Siren/Strobe devices: The D4100 devices play a crucial role in alerting the command center. When an individual crosses the critical line, the D4100 lights up yellow, signaling the security operations center (SOC) to monitor the situation closely. If the person remains on the edge for more than 45 seconds, the D4100 alarm turns red, and an audible siren is activated, escalating the alert level.

The technology enhanced the Denver Performing Arts Complex’s rooftop surveillance and security.

Once the system identifies a potential jumper, the SOC is notified instantly. Security personnel are then dispatched to the rooftop to engage with the individual and provide human interaction, which is crucial in preventing a possible tragedy. The prompt presence of a trained officer can make a significant difference, offering support and intervention at a critical moment.

“The integration of these advanced technologies is a significant step forward in ensuring the safety of our community,” said a representative from the Denver Performing Arts Complex. “Our goal is to prevent loss of life by combining state-of-the-art surveillance with immediate human response.”

Stone Security expressed pride in the successful implementation and the collaborative effort involved. “Working with the Denver Performing Arts Complex has been a rewarding experience,” said a spokesperson from Stone Security. “The success of this technology in real-world scenarios underscores the importance of innovative solutions and strong partnerships. Our collaboration has resulted in a robust system that not only enhances security but also has the potential to save lives. We're honored to be part of such a crucial initiative.”

The technology enhanced the Denver Performing Arts Complex’s rooftop surveillance and security through the quick response capability of the SOC, leading to effective intervention and loss of life prevention. The Denver Performing Arts Center said it has an increased sense of safety and security within the community since the integration.

This innovative approach not only highlights the potential of technology in enhancing public safety but also sets a precedent for other institutions looking to implement similar measures. The Denver Performing Arts Complex’s proactive strategy demonstrates a commitment to using modern solutions to address complex human challenges, ultimately aiming to save lives and provide a safer environment for all. //

Patrons of upstate New York’s popular dining establishment, Bar-Bill Tavern, might come for the chicken wings and traditional beef on weck, but they stay for the incredible AV experience. Yet, there was one crucial element missing from the mix — a system to easily control all the technology. The Park Place team tackled the AV issues at the Bar-Bill pubs in Clarence and East Aurora, N.Y., first, where they united control of multiple TVs and an audio system under Snap One’s Control4 platform. It was the perfect solution. The staff mastered the operation in no time, which made the sports viewing experience dramatically better for guests.

The Transportation Services and Mobility department for the city of Grand Prairie, Texas, recently completed a substantial project to replace the locks on their intelligent traffic cabinets with a better and more secure choice. Turns out what they needed was only a few miles away with ALCEA’s Traffic Cabinet Locking Solution powered by ABLOY technology. ALCEA is the brand formerly known as ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions — Critical Infrastructure. The ALCEA Traffic Cabinet Locking Solution has gained traction with transportation infrastructure departments in major cities across the United States.

Burger King, like many fast-food businesses, uses security systems and video surveillance to keep their property safe from theft, vandalism and unauthorized access. This creates an atmosphere where staff and customers feel safe and comfortable. The main aim was to safeguard the buildings, equipment, employees and customers while causing as little disturbance to the operation of the chain’s restaurants as possible. AlarmLink Oslo AS is a security installation company that operates throughout the entire country. The installer had recommended Ajax devices as a professional solution that meets the most stringent security standards.

Zero Eyes

ZeroEyes announced that its proactive gun detection and intelligent situational awareness solution will be deployed by Michigan’s Olivet Community Schools to protect students and faculty against gun-related violence. The school was approved for the state’s dedicated grant funding, enabling Olivet to implement ZeroEyes. Olivet Community Schools comprises an elementary school, as well as a middle and high school that are located at the same complex. To combat the rising threat of violence, the district has been bolstering its safety and security efforts by installing an access control system and new digital cameras, along with the deployment of ZeroEyes.

The University of California San Diego (UCSD) Police Department is a full-fledged law enforcement agency responsible for patrolling, investigating and preventing crime within its jurisdiction. Spanning over 1,200 acres and comprising 900 buildings, UCSD’s campus presents unique challenges for law enforcement. The department’s communications division serves as the nerve center, coordinating responses to emergencies, managing communications and ensuring coordination among officers. Before partnering with RGB Spectrum, UCSD faced significant obstacles in its dispatch operations. Dispatchers juggled multiple computers, including a CAD, radio, and phone computer, each requiring separate keyboards and mice.
