My Alarm Center, a provider in home security, announced that 100 percent of its senior lenders and other key stakeholders have agreed to support the company’s prepackaged plan of reorganization under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
The reorganization provides for the elimination of approximately $235 million of legacy debt obligations. This will allow the company to focus on core competencies without the burden of servicing significant debt levels.
My Alarm Center will continue to operate in the ordinary course of business during the restructuring process. The company has received commitments from its senior lenders for $15 million of fresh capital to continue providing service to its customers during the period of the financial restructuring, while also meeting its financial obligations to vendors and employees.
“The only change post-exit will be a smaller corporate headquarters building in Pennsylvania — and we’ve wanted to make this move for at least nine months now,” said Anastasia Bottos, president and chief operating officer of My Alarm Center. “As terrible as the last 18 months in this pandemic have been, our team has been incredibly successful in a work-from-home/flex structure environment. We have seen the value in engagement, job satisfaction and skyrocketing customer experience scores.”
This transaction will provide a capital structure to ensure the company’s long‐term viability and set the foundation for My Alarm Center’s next phase of growth.
“We are highly confident that the work we have done and the path we have chosen will result in a much stronger capital structure and bright future for our company, our partners and our employees, allowing us to continue to provide superior support and service to our customers,” said Amy Kothari, CEO of My Alarm Center.
The company is seeking customary approvals from the court overseeing its Chapter 11 case, and their vendor and partner relationships will remain unimpaired during the restructuring.— By Amanda Reed, SDM Staff Editor //

With attendee registration open and the opportunities available for security and public safety professionals at the conference known, ISC West is anticipating a return to Las Vegas in the range of 50-60 percent of 2019 visitor levels. Not counting exhibit staff and speakers, this would estimate to around 10,000 core security and public safety professionals.
After a long pause due to COVID-19, integrator, dealer, installer and practitioner organizations are signing up to attend, including security professionals from the American Integrated Security Group, ASAP Security, BlackRock, the City of Los Angeles, the Department of Homeland Security, IBM, Lockheed Martin, MGM Resorts International, Molson Coors Beverage Company, the National Football League (NFL), NextGen Integrated Solutions, Siemens, Travelers Insurance and the Utah Transit Authority, along with an estimated 400-plus exhibiting brands — roughly 35 percent of which are exhibiting for the first time at an ISC West event.
New innovations that have emerged since the last in-person ISC event will be showcased on the expo floor and via SIA’s New Product Showcase. The 2021 Exhibitor List features confirmed brands such as: 3xLOGIC, ADT Commercial, Alarm.com, Allegion, Alula, Alvarado (a dormakaba company), Axis Communications, Axon, Alcatraz AI, Anno.Ai, DMP, Genetec, Napco Security Technologies, Paxton Access, Skydio and Seagate Technology.

Our customers’ health and safety is of utmost importance to us, and we’ll be taking proactive steps and implementing new guidelines and policies to help support a safe experience for our customers to network face-to-face with industry peers.”
Simultaneously, the SIA Education@ISC West Program recently revealed full conference details, highlighting more than 65 sessions and over 115 confirmed speakers, in addition to this year’s Keynote Series Sessions featuring Dave Komendat, vice president and chief security officer, enterprise operations, finance and sustainability, enterprise services at The Boeing Company; and James Gagliano, retired FBI supervisory special agent, law enforcement analyst, adjunct assistant professor and doctoral candidate at St. John’s University.
A new COVID-19 Response & Public Safety and Health session track has been added, featuring four sessions dedicated to the health and safety response in a post-pandemic, new normal world.
“SIA is excited to reconnect in-person with so many members and partners at this year’s ISC West,” said Don Erickson, SIA CEO. “Our learning and development team is working with an exceptional cadre of speakers this year to deliver a very relevant SIA Education@ISC program, addressing important topics like the cybersecurity of IoT solutions, business resilience and post-pandemic health and safety changes. Milestone Systems, a provider of open platform video management software (VMS), announced it will withdraw from ISC West 2021, the largest converged security industry trade show in the U.S.
Milestone is enacting this health measure due to continued developments of COVID-19 in the United States.
“We have been monitoring this situation very closely for over a year now,” said Tim Palmquist, vice president for the Americas at Milestone Systems. “Unfortunately, the continued heightened risk of COVID-19 means that we will return to in-person events only when it is safe to do so. We are prioritizing people over the benefits of our participation in ISC West 2021. We believe that not having a formal presence at the show is the best decision for the benefit of all our stakeholders, at this time.”
Milestone’s U.S. office remains closed with employees conducting all business remotely, following COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the governor of Oregon. Milestone Systems remains supportive of the ISC West event and intends to attend in 2022. Milestone is currently considering alternative ways to share the essential information it prepared for ISC West 2021.
In response, Will Wise, group vice president of Reed Exhibitions, which presents ISC West, said they will miss Milestone at this year’s event, and looks forward to them being back at events again in 2022.
“We are inspired by excellent momentum for the in-person Las Vegas event,” Wise continued. “In April, we had 30 new SMB companies sign on to exhibit, and many large customers are in full speed ahead for planning and engagement mode.”
Securityhunter, located in Baltimore, is now certified with FirstNet. FirstNet is the country’s first nationwide communications platform dedicated to public safety to help first responders connect to the critical information in an emergency.
FirstNet communications frequency operates at 700MHz, a frequency only allocated to life, safety and security personnel communicating during a public safety emergency.
Becoming certified means Securityhunter can now offer its federal clients a method to communicate in the event of a disaster. FirstNet was developed specifically to help first responders avoid issues caused by overloaded cellular networks by providing communication ability exclusively for emergency services.
“We believe this shows how Securityhunter is committed to protecting the nation by planning for any catastrophic emergency that may arise,” said Securityhunter Quality Control Manager Marcus Wright.
Ross Nelson, executive director at Securityhunter, added, “We’re always looking for capabilities that will help us enhance public safety and security. I think FirstNet is an important tool for our first responders and I’m proud that Securityhunter is able to participate in the program.”
At the present time, there are less than 35 companies approved to install FirstNet systems. //
