Honeywell Adds Access Control Functionality to MAXPRO Cloud Solutions Portfolio

Honeywell has expanded the capabilities of its MAXPRO Cloud portfolio with the launch of MPA1 and MPA2, access control panels that offer cloud, web-based or on-premise hosting options.

“Our technologies can be integrated into existing systems, helping our customers create and maintain flexible, bespoke solutions best suited to their needs, which is especially important for SMBs,” said Rick Koscinski, North America general manager, Honeywell Commercial Security. “Our new MPA1 and MPA2 control panels strengthen our MAXPRO Cloud offering by giving users cost-effective access control functionality and real-time security information from anywhere.”

MAXPRO Cloud is a cloud-based security solution designed for multi-site small- to medium-sized businesses that provides effective and efficient security and safety, while minimizing IT costs and future-proofing investments, according to the company. The solution integrates access control and video into a user-friendly platform that can protect multi-site retail, franchises, multi-tenant commercial and residential properties, schools and churches. With features such as global credential management, automated reporting and remote management of doors and schedules, the system is a powerful business tool.

Michael Coniff, offering management lead at Honeywell Commercial Security, said that MPA1 and MPA2 were developed with integrators in mind.

“Our goal was to create a product that was easy for systems integrators to install and that can adapt to a customer’s existing IT infrastructure and methods,” Coniff said. “MPA1 and MPA2 feature a faster web interface, seamless integration with the MAXPRO Cloud solution and backwards compatibility to enable easy greenfield installation or the ability to work with existing access control products.”

MPA1, a single door PoE-powered controller, is easy to install, operate and maintain thanks to its edge installation design and its dedicated device utility app for fast and easy commissioning. It can either be mounted in a U.S. single gang junction box or in a specially designed compact enclosure with status LED diagnostics. In addition, the embedded web interface allows the MPA1 to operate in standalone mode in single and multi-panel solutions.

MPA2 is a cloud and standalone access control panel for two door access control. The MPA2 panel features enhanced security due to a 128-bit AES encrypted, bi-directional OSDP communication with access control readers. This combination of features — bolstered by an intuitive, browser-based user interface — gives customers an easy-to-use and secure site access system. Users can manage MPA2 securely using ethernet or internet connections.

“End users will benefit from faster product installation, the ability to add or upgrade their existing systems, an increased ease of operations and maintenance and a system that can grow as their needs adapt,” Coniff said. “We look forward to continuing to provide our dealers with the next generation of forward-thinking security products to help them support the small-to-medium business segment.”

ONVIF Reaches Milestone of 20,000 Conformant Products

ONVIF, a global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, announced that more than 20,000 security products are now conformant to its various profiles.

“The mission of ONVIF is simple — to provide and promote open interfaces that in turn will increase freedom of choice for end users,” said Leonid Levit, chairman of the ONVIF Steering Committee. “Achieving this milestone means there is no question that the market regards interoperability, through ONVIF conformance, to be a fundamental requirement in our industry.”

Much of the growth relating to the number of conformant products has happened within the past few years, as ONVIF surpassed 10,000 conformant products in 2018. Forthcoming ONVIF profiles — specifically the Profile M Release Candidate for metadata, which is to be finalized later this year — are expected to drive further growth in the number of conformant products to meet interoperability needs in new operational environments, such as in the cloud and with systems running advanced analytics powered by artificial intelligence.

ONVIF conformant products are produced only by ONVIF member companies and must support at least one ONVIF profile. Products must be registered under the ONVIF list of conformant products to be considered conformant.

The organization has a global member base of established camera, video management system and access control companies and more than 20,000 profile conformant products. ONVIF offers Profile S for streaming video; Profile G for recording and storage; Profile C for physical access control; Profile Q for improved out-of-the-box functionality; Profile A for broader access control configuration and Profile T for advanced streaming. ONVIF continues to work with its members to expand the number of IP interoperability solutions ONVIF conformant products can provide.

LenelS2 Delivers Contact Notification Service to Support Healthy Buildings

In support of Carrier’s Healthy Buildings program and the safe return to work, LenelS2 introduced a COVID-19 contact notification subscription-based service for businesses and other organizations using LenelS2’s OnGuard or NetBox access control security systems along with LenelS2’s BlueDiamond mobile credential app.

The service complements LenelS2’s touchless building access solutions by providing BlueDiamond-credentialed users with the ability to assess their health symptoms, and receive real-time social distancing reminders and anonymized notifications if they have recently come into contact with to a user that self-assessed as being positive for COVID-19.

“The global pandemic has changed expectations for health and safety in the workplace,” said Jeff Stanek, president of LenelS2. “The BlueDiamond contact notification service empowers our customers with the tools they need to help address today’s challenges and provide greater confidence in a safe return to work.”

The contact notification service in the BlueDiamond mobile app identifies and communicates anonymized real-time COVID-19 risks and provides employees with a safer building experience, while providing building administrators with data to monitor and manage potential exposure risks in the workplace. Contact notification includes daily self-assessments for employees to report any symptoms or self-report their positive COVID-19 status. Based on the results from the daily assessment, employee mobile credentials can be automatically restricted for a configurable quarantine period from within the app as pre-defined by the administrator or company policy.

The BlueDiamond contact notification service utilizes mobile-to-mobile Bluetooth technology to help enforce social distancing in the workplace, and provides real-time app notifications to employees who violate distancing guidelines. Leveraging an administration console, building administrators can configure contact notification parameters and proactively monitor trends in the workplace. Beyond initial provisioning requirements, contact notification is hardware independent and can be quickly implemented by LenelS2 customers.

The latest BlueDiamond app version also includes a variety of non-subscription-based updates to improve the access control and user experience. Two-factor authentication leveraging touch ID, face ID or a smartphone passcode can now be used as a method for validating a BlueDiamond mobile credential user. In-app tutorials provide users with an easy way to use other currently available app features.
